Thoughts on changing State Final Awards
Hey Guys & Girls
We haven't been taking advantage of our PSHA blog.
Is everyone aware of the State Finals Awards poll sent out by Holly?
Here it is. Please send Holly an e-mail to cast your vote:
PSHA riders I need your input! What kind of awards would you like to receive at State Finals? The budget for State Finals this year is as follows: 1st place $45 2nd place $35 3rd place $25 4th place $20 5th place $15 6th place $10 I have three options for you to choose from: Option 1 Receive award at State Finals after each event. Like in the past, I will have a table set up with the 6 placings and you choose your award in order of your placing. If you are for this option tell me what kind of awards you would like to receive. Option 2 Choose your own awards - You may spend points earned by your placings at State Finals. You will be able to choose from a list of awards that have been assigned point values. The point value will be similar to option 1. You may combine your points from multiple placings to earn nicer awards or use the points to buy smaller items from a list. The cash option would also be available for those who would prefer the money instead of awards. The down side of this option is that awards would not be available until the fall meeting/banquet as they would need to be ordered after State Finals. The up side is that you will be able to choose awards that you want in the correct size and colors and will be able to combine your points from multiple events to get much nicer awards. Option 3 Money1st place $45 2nd place $35 3rd place $25 4th place $20 5th place $15 6th place $10 Let me know which option you prefer. water, water, everywhere
For the curious, here's a picture of Sno Valley Saddle Club. It was taken Wednesday, about 12 hours BEFORE the river crested. Since then, the water has risen above the windows, nearly to the roof line. Needless to say, we get to do all that work, all over again. If anyone is doing any remodeling, we would love to have cabinets, counter tops, dry wall, flooring, and virtually anything else you can think of. After the water receeds, that is. They say that should happen some time this weekend...

I'll take that challenge!
Okay, it's really early in the year to come up with proposals, but I forget about this one every summer...
I think we should change the wording on the Classic events to include any team (2 man and 4 man) events, provided they fill at State Finals.
Right now it reads that only 2 man stake, 2 man 3 barrel and rescue are the only team events allowed.
What do you think?

Awesome Convention!
Thanks to everyone that put all their efforts in to making this Convention such a success.
Those of you that weren’t able to make it to our first Convention missed one heck of a good time. From the social hour on Friday night (with free food!) to the Banquet on Saturday night, it was probably the best Convention I can remember attending in years. It was especially nice to have all of us eating at the Banquet together…............I think that is probably a first!
The DVD/Video that Shannon put together with past and present pictures came out incredibly cool and brought back some very fond memories. We brought a copy home and I won’t say how many times we watched it last night………!
I know it’s a big job putting on this kind of a meeting, so kudos to Joyce, Lesa, Shannon and everyone else that contributed their time and efforts into it. It was a big success and I thank you!

Thoughts on proposals???
Hey all! I've been keeping an eye on the blog to see if there's any discussion on the proposals. I've been disappointed not to see any... I would like to hear thoughts on the proposal to change the season to July 1st to June 30th. I'm not sure what the benefit would be.

State & Interstate
Fire & rain. I think that could describe our weather at the two events. However, at BOTH events Our riders were all sizzling hot and just did a fantastic job. Love our PSHA's group camaraderie! During Interstate Lesa and I commented how impressed we were by competing PSHA riders helping other riders (a big shout out of thanks to especially to Ali & Ady). Oregon didn't seem to have that same team spirit.
Don't know if ya'll saw this e-mail from Jill sent after state:
Hi all,
I would like to Thanks everyone that helped make this years state finals the best yet. I never heard one thing negative and we all help each other. I felt so much sportsmanship this year. I loved it. Thanks for all the hard work that went into putting it on. Thanks to the Blands. Strong and Reece family and Dan S and Shannon. All the workers that made it in the heat. But I could not leave out the fantastic Guys in the Announcers booth. They kept us all going. You guys ROCK. Thanks again for all the fun. I LOVE PSHA

Judging Clinics - Senario Based
For me Judging the standard Pole run or Figure 8 run is no big deal...But then the odd ball situation comes up that I don't see or even hear about sometimes, and I stand around like a deer in the headlights wondering what the heck do I do with that? What would you all think about doing a clinic with some of the more 'Senior' judges posing 'situations' and working us through each situation. Nothing teaches me better than real life, and we all have somethings to learn...Just a thought for something constructive at our banquet. Let me know what you think?
